An Introduction to Extraordinary Leadership

The Psychology of Extraordinary Leadership

Our primary contention is that leadership is not a "Style to be adopted" but a state of "being". Our work is not to train a persona in leadership, but to enable the individual to discover and release the innate leader inside of them in all its "unique individuality".

Our work has its roots firmly in the person-centred (Rogerian), Existential/Spiritual (depending on your own ontological perspective), Cognitive Developmental and Gestalt traditions.  As a result, all that we do is aligned with Seligman’s concepts of Positive Psychology and the Flow of Csikszentmihalyi  and Gallwey and ‘Emergence”.  In addition to the techniques of these traditions, we use the tools of Behavioural, Cognitive Behavioural, somatic, NLP, Eriksonian, Dilts, Whitmore and more.

In practice, it is hard to distinguish where the application of the tools and techniques derived from one theory transition to those of another.  Indeed, clear boundaries between the theories themselves seem to continue to blur as their application in so many spheres becomes more common.

In essence, we use whatever technique will be most effective for our clients at a particular point on their unfolding leadership journey.

All these techniques and approaches are apparent in the application of our 3-Dimensional Leadership model and The ACT of Leadership (Awareness, Connection and Transformation).
